Description:  7th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 08 March 1964. Shown here is PRR engine #2022, a BF-16 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1952 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. It and two other Baldwin "Sharks" are pulling an eastbound freight train under the 7th Street Bridge into the Altoona Yards. Visible behind it are portions of PRR engines #7070 and #9766-B, which are waiting for orders to proceed with a westbound mixed-cargo freight train.

Description:  7th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 08 March 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7070, #9766-B, and #9650-B. All were built by EMD. #7070 is an EFS-17M built in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #9766-B and #9650-B are EF-15A's rated at 1,500 horsepower each; #9766-B was built in 1951, but #9650-B was built in 1950. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train under the 7th Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West.

Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7132, #9802-B, and #7004. All were built by EMD. #7132 and #7004 are EFS-17M's rated at 1,750 horsepower each; #7132 was built in 1957, but #7004 was built in 1955. #9802-B is an EF-15A built in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train under the 7th Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Also visible (L to R) are some of the PRR's Passenger Car Shops, the old steel water tower, the 4th Street Bridge, and several other westound freight trains awaiting crews and orders to proceed.

Both were built by EMD. #7007 is an EFS-17M built in 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #9788 is an EF-15A built in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a string of loaded hopper cars out of the Altoona Yards, and have passed under 7th Street Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West.

They are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge with a merchandise freight train on their way to Enola and points East. Visible in the center distance are some of the PRR's 12th Street Shop buildings.

Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6302, #6306, #6300, and #6304. All are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company during 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge on their way to East Altoona to get ready to make another helper/pusher run up to Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and back.

They are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge with a long passenger train, and will soon stop at the Altoona Station on their way to Pittsburgh and points West. In the background, a mixed-cargo freight train headed by PRR engine #7140 waits patiently for orders to proceed.

They are pushing a mixed-cargo freight train under the 7th Street Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin, where they will uncouple and return to East Altoona to make another run up the Mountains.
