Album Info:Here are eleven original photos that I took of Strasburg Rail Road locomotives and equipment in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1963. Also included is an original photo of SRC #1 which was taken by an unidentified photographer at a much later date.

Description:  SRC-1963. Here is an original photo that I took of a Strasburg Rail Road locomotive near Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1963. Shown here is the head end of SRC engine #31, an 0-6-0 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1908 ~ some 55 years earlier! It is pulling our excursion train to Paradise, where the SRC connects with the Pennsylvania Railroad ~ whereupon it will uncouple, pass around to the other end of our train, recouple, and then pull the train back to the Strasburg Station.

Description:  SRC-1963. Here is an original photo that I took of Strasburg Rail Road property near Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1963. As our excursion train ~ pulled by SRC engine #31 ~ returns to the Strasburg Station from Paradise, the little whistle-stop station at a place called "Cherry Hill" comes into view. The corn looks as high as an elephant's eye!

Description:  SRC-1963. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1963. Shown here is PRR engine #1223, a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata during November of 1905. In this photo, it is being examined thoroughly by a host of children and other souls. In later years, #1223 pulled excursions under live steam. Nowadays, it is on exhibit at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
