Album Info:Those of you who saw my "Steam Engine in Action on the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad" album (at http://railfan3145.rrpicturearchives.net/archiveThumbs.aspx?id=132656 ) know that there is a restored ATSF steam engine in Abilene, which you can ride from May through October. I photographed that last time I was there, but I didn't get a chance to photograph the many train stations still standing there (except for the Rock Island one). On this trip, I got the Santa Fe and Union Pacific depots, as well as some of the switcher engines which lurk about town. Enjoy these photos!

Description:  The three railroads that came east-west through Abilene are right on top of each other. Union Pacific is the northernmost, then Santa Fe, finally Rock Island. All are still used, though what is left of the Rock Island is merely a tourist line now. Of course, the remains of the Rock Island are the only one which you can board a train at a station from!
