Title:  UP 4-8-4 #811 - Union Pacifiuc
Description:  Long and powerful are the two best descriptive words to use on this Alco-Schenectady built 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomtoive. Constructed in August of 1937 as UP 811 (serial #68819, class FEF-1), the loco served until retirement in September of 1956. Specs - 77" drivers, impressive 300 psi boiler pressure, 24.5x32" cylinders, engine weight of 465,000 lb, tractive effort of 63,500 lb. This is a Jack A. Pfeifer photo.

Title:  UP 4-8-4 #833 - Union Pacific
Description:  Built by Alco-Schenectady in August of 1939 as UP 4-8-4 #833 (serial #69174, class FEF-2), the loco seerved nearly 23 years before it was retired in January of 1962 and placed in storage. Eventually, in October of 1972 it was donated to the City of Salt Lake, Utah, for exhibitionn at Pioneer Park. No photographer, date or location was given for the photo. It does appear to be near Cheyenne, WY, and based on the car in the background, possibly early 1950's.

Description:  Built by Alco-Schenectady in August of 1937, this mighty UP 4-8-4 #810 (serial #68818, class FEF-1) Northern type steam locomotive served the UP until retirement in November of 1954. Caught here in Topeka, KS, by an unknown photographer, the loco had only 3 more years before retirment. Specs - 77" drivers, impressive 300 psi boiler pressure, 24.5x32" cylinders, engine weight of 465,000 lb, tractive effort of 63,500 lb.

Description:  Filling the sky with black smoke and heading up a long string of UP yellow varnish is the mighty Union Pacific 4-8-4 #8444 on one of its many fan trips around the west. No exact location was given but appears to be near Cheyenne, WY. Specs - serial #72791, 80" drivers, impressive 300 psi boiler pressure, engine weight of 486,340 lb, tractive effort of 63,750 lb. The loco is preserved as one of the "jewels" in the UP Heritage Fleet based in Cheyenne, WY. An unknown photographer took this great action shot!
