Album Info:The Indiana Railroad ( INRD ) founded March 18th 1986 is a privately-held 500 mile railroad with a full time staff of almost 200. The railroad hauls a variety of consumer, energy & industrial products & serves central & southwest Indiana & central Illinois with nationwide connections at transportation hubs such as Chicago, Indianapolis, & Louisville, Ky. The railroad is an entrepreneurial success story. INRD Founder, President, & CEO Thomas Hoback purchased a rail line slated for abandonment by a previous owner & in 26 years increased business more than 12 fold & transformed the railroad into a state of the art heavy haul transportation system. In 2010, the Indiana Railroad hauled the equivalent of 800,000 truckloads of freight, providing an environmentally friendly transportation alternative & reducing gridlock on our highways. INRD is also active in the community, operating the annual Santa Train, serving as sponsor of major programs at the Indiana Historical Society & Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art, & by providing support for a variety of local community programs.
