Album Info:This line has not seen a train in roughly 30 years. Today it was quite a little event with news crews chasing and small town police departments activated for the two shiny EMD GP15-1's to roll through. Some crossing were newly decked out with state sponsored protection, yet most, in the small communities this line travels through were just crossbucks. Speed was limited to 10 mph. and Patriot Rail Execs were on hand. The two units ran light from Gastonia to Mt. Holly, NC and back on a beautiful winters day without a cloud in the sky and temps near 60 degrees.

Description:  Presidents Day 2012 and you couldnt ask for i nicer day to start a Railroad. Two Ex-Conrail GP15-1's get ready to start their new careers on this very short Shortline which will initially transfer cars between Norfolk Southern here in Gastonia and CSX in Mt. Holly, NC. a distance of roughly 15 miles with a one mile branchline to Belmont, NC. Sometime around when these two units were built for Conrail in the mid 1970's was the last time this line saw any activity. Rebuilt and painted by LTEX (Larry's Truck and Electric) in McDonald, Ohio, these units look sharp as they gleem in the afternoon sun.
