Description:  Another example of a rebuilt former G-3 Consolidation done by the Chicago Great Western shops at Oelwein, IA. Larger 26" cylinder and thermic syphons were installed with an overall improved tractive effort of 54,700 lb. All Consolidations were retired between 1930-50. No photographer listed. The date and location are approximate since neither were given.

Description:  Good looking 2-8-0 Consolidation with a head of steam sitting in the Rochester, MN, yard. Originally built by Baldwin in 1910 as a class G-3 #300 but rebuilt and renumbered by CGW shops twice, once between 1915-19 and again in 1927. Final rebuild specifics - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 240,500 lb, tractive effort of 54724 lb. Exact date in 1947 was not given. unknown photographer
