Description:  Yard Power. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad yard locomotive at Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during July of 1960. Shown here is PRR engine #8973, a BS-16M built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. It is pulling a string of cars past the Hollidaysburg "Yard Limit" sign. This photo was taken at the Juniata River Railroad Bridge, just East of the Bedford Street Crossing.

Its crew is pulling a string of cars over the Juniata River Railroad Bridge and into the Hollidaysburg Yard. Photo taken just East of the Bedford Street Crossing and the Hollidaysburg Passenger Station. Note that one of the crew members is making a call at the HOLLY phone box at the far end of the Bridge.

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8973, a BS-16M built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in May of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. During the apex of the "Age of Steam," this Roundhouse had 50 locomotive-servicing stalls operating 24/7/365! Photo taken from the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata.
