Description:  Ex-NYC #340 heads up what appears to be a fan trip. Built by Alco and delivered to the NYC as #340 in June of 1931, it was transferred to the Chicago South Shore electrified line in the mid-1950's. No exact date or photographer was listed for this photo so an approximate date was used.

CSS Boxcab 705 - Chicago South Shore & South Bend
Title:  CSS Boxcab 705 - Chicago South Shore & South Bend
Description:  Built by Alco/GE for the New York Central as their R2 class #1240 in June of 1931 (bldr #68268/11191), it was renumbered 340 in August 1936 and sold to CSS&SB in 1955. It was then rebuilt to serve the CSS as 754 in 1956 and finally scrapped in April 1976. Unknown photographer on a fan trip took this photo as the unit stopped near Wagner Road in Porter County, IN.
