Seen at its home, the Scottdale station. This is a former Illinois Central 9314 GP9 built back in December 1957. Rebuilt to a GP11 at the IC Paducah Shops. Now the only question is where are SWP 2004 and 2005. They have skipped two numbers. |

Overhead look at the only SWP GP11 that isn't red. Built as IC 9314 GP9 in December 1957. Later became IC 8749 after undergoing a rebuild to a GP11 at the Paducah Shops. Eventually it moved on, becoming SLR 8749 and NREX 8749. Late last year it finally was officially renumbered 2006 for the SWP. It can be hard to photograph this one in full sunlight due to the bright yellow but I think I pulled it off this time. |

A mixed freight train with four GP11's is idling in a snowstorm at O&B Junction in Wheeler Bottom, waiting for permission from CSX to go over to Greene Junction. The abandoned relay box on the right was from when this line was signaled and double tracked back in the B&O days. Even further back, in the early part of the 20th century, there was a junction to the right with the O&B shortline. After all these years, it is still called O&B Junction. |
