I was stalking L 102, the Watts based dodger that works most days to Simmons in Decatur, then turns back south, working Little Debbie in Gentry on the way. The light was gorgeous, so I had to get a photo of the "stuffed and mounted" F 7 while I waited for the local to pass, itself in a red/yellow/black scheme. |

I was dropping my recycling when a northbound empty coal train went past the dump. I was elbows deep in a bin of plastic and glass, and it was already 1515-they close at 1530-so I needed to get the task done. The coal train-led by a KCS unit and a BNSF Grinstein-was moving too fast for me to catch up, and I had things to do at home. After he went by, a track car got track and time to go to Gentry, then clear up by 1600, there was a southbound at Noel. I went to Gentry at 1600, no train, so worked north, finally catching him coming across Roller Av as I got into town. |

Late on a February afternoon these four locomotives were on the turntable lead at Minden, Louisiana. GP7 4160 is a locally-assigned unit, while F7A 75 and GP30's 4107 and 4101 had come up from Alexandria on train No. 66 and would be returning south on No. 65. The 75 would be renumbered 4062 in April 1978, just 14 months away; and would be out of service by the end of 1982. The geeps lasted a little longer! |
