Title:  VULX X - Vulcan Materials Co
Description:  Built by GE in November of 1941 (#13169), this little switcher ended up at the Vulcan Materials plant in McCook, IL, during the early 1970's and still looking pretty darn sharp although it had no number assigned to it. Technically the "VULX" reporting mark is for the southeast division of Vulcan but VM, the correct mark, is not recognized here. This is a Jim Wozniczka photo.

Description:  This unlettered GE 44 tonner was at an elevator off of Utah Street in Buffalo, IA, which I believe is the CHS "East Elevator". She's misidentified elsewhere on this site as formerly being Soo 330, but Soo 330 was a Phase I 44 tonner with buttonhole-style hood vents. This is a Phase IV unit, and was at this location since 1975 when she came from Bayside Elevator Co. (Reserve, LA), ex-Cook Industries "Captain Cook" (Reserve, LA), nee-PRR 9324, GE serial 30142, built 3/49. A Google street view dated 2015 shows her still at this location, although I'm told she's now gone.
