Description:  Great press photo from GE on the co-development with Budd ComapnyTress release on the back of the photo states -" June 23, 1972. Unveiling of First GE-New haven Cars. Erie, PA - This first pari of General Electri-built New Haven commuter cars are the first of 144 ordered by New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authorigy and Connecticut's Department of Transportation. The stainless steel, air-condicitioned cars, which have already undergone more that 2,000 miles of test on GE's own track in Erie, Pa, will be tested for an additional 8,000 miles on New haven track before entering passenger service this fall. The last of the new cars will be belivered by the fall of 1973." No specific GE publicity photographer was listed. of the M2 series of EMU's for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Description:  The unsung heroes of the New Haven line were these M-2s that were equipped with both pantographs and third rail shoes so they could make the flying change at Woodlawn and run from the ex New Haven onto the ex NYC electrified lines at speed. They soldiered on day in and day out for years. MUs may not be glamourous-wed all love to see washboards again-but they get the job done.
