Description:
Here is page two of a two-page article entitled "Rush From Labrador." It was published originally in the July-August 1959 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 7. Top Right Photo Caption: "Extra locomotives in the middle and rear help ore train over mountain west of Altoona." Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8675 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8675 was constructed in March of 1958. Also visible are two open hopper cars: PRR #702470, as well as Cambria & Indiana Railroad #4459. Bottom Right Photo Caption: "Giant furnaces, ore pile, and dumper form background as trains reach Weirton Steel." Prominent here is PRR engine #8949, an LS-25M built by Lima-Hamilton in August of 1951, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966.

Here is a photo from an article entitled "Rush From Labrador." It was published originally in the July-August 1959 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 15. The photographer is not identified. Photo Caption: "Extra locomotives in the middle and rear help ore train over mountain west of Altoona." Visible in the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8675, an AS-18AM built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. Also visible near the apex of the Curve is Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotive #1361, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during May of 1918 and retired in May of 1956.
