WS #101 giving WS12 some excersize
Title:  WS #101 giving WS12 some excersize
Description:  Following Research by Scott Ey...: WSRR #12 was built between Oct 1943 and March 1944 the troop sleeper began its life hauling troops for WWII as USAX 7478. It was part of the first order of 1,200 Troop Sleepers Ordered by the US Government. At some point after the war, Troop Sleeper USAX 7478 and a few other Troop Sleepers was acquired by the Western Maryland Railroad and was renumbered in the Range of WM 3000's. USAX was Renumbered to WM 3004 and spent its time as a Camp Car for the wrecking crews out on the mainline. It was usually paired up with a Troop Kitchen Car and two boxcars that were made into tool cars. In 1972 when the Western Maryland got absorbed into the Chessie System Company, the Troop Sleeper found its life all around the Chessie line but then got renumbered to WM 940952. Then in the mid 80's when Maryland Midland took over the Western Maryland mainline in Union Bridge, the Troop Sleeper fate was uncertain at this point. At some point it was suggested to be used on the EnterTRAINment consist but that never came to. In the Mid 90's the Troop Sleeper was purchased by the Walkersville Southern and then was turned into our first passenger car. With new paint it was renumbered to WS 12. Today WS 12 Lives on as a kitchen car in the dinner train.
