B&O 50, The Mother of All Passenger Diesels  Contributor's Pick!
From northeast.railfan.net: "Electro-Motive Corp. model AA passenger locomotive. It was a very historic diesel locomotive, the first passenger road locomotive not articulated to its train. Placed in Royal Blue service (Jersey City - Washington DC.) on 8/22/35, it was transferred to Abraham Lincoln service (Chicago - St. Louis) on B&O subsidiary Alton in 4/36. Following the B&O-Alton breakup, Alton bought it in 5/43. Following WWII, it became GM&O #1200 and served in local freight service and on the Joliet commuter train. Retired in 1956, {it was} donated by the scrapper to St. Louis {the Nat'l Museum of Transport} in late 1958. - James Mischke"

Ron Moraca General Nice photo, Marty, and thanks to that anonymous scrapper's gift to StL. 9/8/2008 10:16:38 PM
Donald Hajek General Great pic. Wish there were more. I am very hapy that there are still some people who care more about history than the almighty dollar in their pocket. Otherwise we may never be able to see such works of historical art. 8/6/2014 12:42:36 PM
