KCS No. 53
The caption on the billboard nicely describes the weather on this beautiful January day! KCS train No. 53, which runs from Dallas to the CSX yard in New Orleans, is parked on the CSX at the Louisa Street grade crossing, about a mile away from its destination. A Norfolk Southern crew has brought the train here fron the KCS-NS connection at Shrewsbury; and when the CSX is ready for the train, they will send a crew to bring it in.

The Rooster General Also, today's train no longer runs on this stretch of track. Rather, it moves over the New Orleans Public Belt Railway. 1/26/2010 10:44:25 AM
Earl Hampton General One thing that caught my eye were the trailers behind the engine. See the MOPAC one on the first car? Look further down car three, there is an ESPEE trailer. No KCS trailers.......strange. Trailers went anywhere back then. 1/26/2010 11:12:44 AM
