Bryan Smith General This is the last RS1 the CIRR bought. After this they went toward EMD's. Back then the CIRR crews didn't swap ends and in the photo the engineer would be in the #3 next to the Hilton sign. 1111 was always used in trail. I don't think it even had seats on it for a crew. And I'm not sure why they named it the "Orange Blossom Special". During this era the CIRR was run by Mr. Paul Angeloff who was very historically sensitive and a good man. The CIRR's first EMD, #1830, was named the Best Friend in honor of the Best Friend of Charleston and the number is the year the Best Friend made it's first run. The 1830 was a former CofG/Southern unit so I could understand the "Best Friend" connection. I'm not sure about the Orange Blossom Special and SAL connection. But hey, it sounds good. 7/5/2012 9:51:32 AM
Charles Stookey General Great exhaust on this roster of a moving loco. Very nice. The paint job accentuates the 1111s lines perfectly. 7/7/2012 10:38:39 AM
