| Central Railroad Company of New Jersey RS-12 1207 at Jersey City, New Jersey on an unknown day in September 1964, Anscochrome by unknown photographer, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 1207 was built in January 1953 (c/n 75447), one of four RS-12's (#'s 1206-1209) shipped to CNJ in January 1953. All four were equipped with steam generators and SKF roller bearings. The careers of the RS-12's in commuter service were short-lived, and they were soon placed in freight service. Retirements began around 1970, and by late 1972 only 1207 and 1208 remained at work. By January 1973 all of the CNJ's RS-12's were retired. |
