Early Amtrak at New Haven - 1970s  Contributor's Pick!
Still in what may be an old Pennsy paint scheme, another GG-1 stands ready for its next train at New Haven. The New Haven station was a great place to catch these giants in their waning days.

Alan Fricker General An interesting catch and a nice variation on the usual Amtrak black GG1. 8/24/2013 1:21:30 PM
Stu Nicholson General Alan....yes. It's hard to tell from this old slide, but I recall the base color being ore of a hunter green, which led me to believe this might have been a holdover paint job from the Pennsy. Nice to see someone put a "racing stripe" on what was a pretty fast locomotive. 8/24/2013 2:01:29 PM
Fred Stuckmann General Sweet catch. 8/25/2013 6:04:43 PM
Stu Nicholson General Thanks Fred! 8/25/2013 8:29:46 PM
