NYC 4-8-2 #2516 - New York Central  Contributor's Pick!
This is an example of a 1916 Alco built 4-8-2 that New York Central preferred calling a "Mohawk" rather than a "Mountain" type since it sounded more appropriate for a "water level route". This L-1a class loco had 69" drivers and could produce 51,380 lb of tractive effort. Unknown location and an approximate date was used. No photographer listed.
