Good Day. Here is an original photo that I took in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1960. Shown here (F to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9581, #9589-B, and #9706. All are rated at 1,500 horsepower. #9581 and 9589-B are BF-15's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1949, but #9706 is a BF-15A constructed by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1950. They're pulling a long string of newly-rebuilt gondolas out of the Yard and up the New Portage Branch line to Gallitzin and points West. This photo was taken from the old Union Street Bridge, facing East toward the Samuel Rea Shop. South Juniata Street is visible on the left; a string of vintage gondolas ~ consigned to maintenance-or-way service ~ sit next to the moving train. #7 of 12. |
