PRR 6306, AF-27, 1965
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are pushing a westbound mixed-cargo freight and are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge. The westbound ore train headed by PRR engine #6011 continues to rumble-on in the foreground.
