| Before the CN tore out the former CNW yard along Pioneer Drive, this was a common sight. Unfortunately, the yard is gone. The covered hoppers are now stored and sorted on a run around track at the end of the spur which was used to serve Pluswood. Pluswood has closed during the summer of 2017. Pluswood was a user of boxcars, leaving only one company (Noffke Lumber) on the CN in Oshkosh that would possibly get boxcars. Seeing boxcars on the local in Oshkosh will be a rare sight in the future. It is truly astounding how much rail infrastructure has been torn out of Oshkosh since 1970, along with the businesses it served. |
