The former CNW line through Oshkosh, though in some spots is near street running status, is fairly straight and was the preferred route when the Wisconsin Central consolidated its route through town The heavily curved Soo Line right of was was pulled up in favor of this one. From the corner of Ceape and Broad one gets a look at just how confusing the area can be to newcomers. Broad runs along on both sides of the track, some of it one way, some of it not. With the grade crossing reduction and upgrading of those remaining by the WC in 1996 and 1997, train speeds through here can be as high as 30 mph along this stretch of what is now Canadian National. |
