TRB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Rockville, Pennsylvania, on 1 January 1957. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #305 and a "Mountain" Class locomotive whose road number is not recorded. #305 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during April of 1917 and retired in January of 1960 after 43 years of service. The "Mikado" is about to couple onto the "Mountain," and help pull a freight train across the Susquehanna River Bridge and into the Enola Yards. |
