Duplexes. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Charles T. Mahan, Jr., that was taken in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on 13 May 1949. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5548, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1946 and retired in January of 1956 after just a decade of revenue service. In this context, it's departing the Harrisburg Station with a passenger train bound for Altoona and points West. ("PrrFan18n") |
