Here is the second of two original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken just East of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5510, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built in Juniata during January of 1946 and retired in December of 1953 after just seven years of revenue service. Parked just beyond it are two more deadlined "Duplex" steam locomotives. |
