New York Central 999         
NYC 999, a 4-4-0, is on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. This unit was built in 1898, and originally pulled the Empire State Express. During one of its express runs, is supposedly attained a top speed of 112 MPH, becoming the first engine ever to do so. The Spitfire behind it attained a top speed of 369 MPH. 999 came to MSI in the 1960s.
