PRR 2004, BF-16, 1955
Dziobko. Here is an image of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken from the 7th Street Bridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1955. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2004 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both are BF-16's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #2004 was constructed in July of 1951 and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-A set has just descended the Allegheny Mountains with a fully-loaded mineral train that's will soon enter the Eastbound Receiving Yard. Willliam E. Burket Collection.
