PRR 8673, AS-18AM, 1959
Volkmer. Here is an image of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 March 1959. Shown here passing under the 24th Street Bridge (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8673, #8666, and #8669. All are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8666 was constructed in February, while #8669 and #8673 were built in March. They're on their way back to East Altoona after completing another helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and back. The large structure in the right distance is the Jaffa Temple.
