Luraville Loco 4-4-0
Built by Danforth. Cooke & Co of Patterson, NJ (predecessor of Cooke Locomotive Works) between 1850-1855, this little loco led an interesting life!. It worked for 50 years in the logging industry before an accident in the 1890's caused it to fall in the Suwannee River where it remained until being recovered in 1979. James Lancaster of Luraville, FL, was the man who saved it, hence the name for the loco. After being sold, it was eventually donated in 1982 to the Florida Dept of Agriculture. After much work it was officially recognized with a historic marker and set in a place of honor next to a new depot inTallahassee, FL
