Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the 59th Street Yard in Chicago, Illinois, on 3 December 1946. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6814, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in August of 1956 after 30 years of faithful service. Note the tender's eight-wheeled "Buckeye" trucks. Gary Mittner Collection. |
