Myers. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William J. Myers that was taken in Columbia, Pennsylvania, c. 1962. Photo Caption: "P-5A Class No. 4720 at Columbia, Pennsylvania." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4720 is a P-5A (2-C-2) built by the Baldwin-Westinghouse during November of 1932, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in January of 1963 after 31 years of faithful service. It's on helper duty at the Columbia Passenger Station. Note that both pantographs are down. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Electrified Operations On The Pennsy" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (791-24).

Description:
Here is one of Pennsylvania's P-5a electric locos built by Baldwin-Westinghouse in November of 1932. The loco underwent two rebuilds - March and then again June of 1935. The massive loco was finally retired in December, 1961 and scrapped in February. Specs - 72" drivers, 62 ft long, 10 1/2 ft wide, engine weight of 392,000 lb. Unknown photographer.

Here is page ten of an 18-page article by W.R. Osborne entitled "Greatest Show On Earth: New York Division, P.R.R." It was published originally in the January 1942 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 17. Joint production by Baldwin and Westinghouse produced this 1933 P5a electric boxcab seen here running freight. Specs - 72" drivers, engine weight of 392,000 lb, power supply of 11kV AC @ 25 Hz catenary, sic 625hp AC traction motors plus four 325hp motors on the trucks. Number 4700 is preserved in the Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, MO. Unknown photographer and the date is approximate.

Still in its original sepia color is the photograph of the 1931 Baldwin built 4-6-4 Hudson, MILW 6414, as it passes through Chicago trackage. Specs - class F-6, 80" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 380,220 lb, tractive effort of 45,250 lb. The photo credit was listed as F.M. No date was given but since it still carries its original number, it must be before the 1938 Milwaukee Road renumbering.
