Originally built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in July of 1901 as UP 1697, it was a Vauclain compound loco who was simplified sometime between 1903-10. The loco was renumbered to UP 477 in 1915. Specs - class C-57, 57" drivers, Rebuilt specs - 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x30" cylinders, engine weight of 187,891 lb, tractive effort of 39,458 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo but it appears as if it were just prepped for display in Salina, KS..
