Shown here are the Horseshoe Curve Gift Shop and PRR Caboose #980901, an N-6B built at the Altoona Car Shops during August of 1916 ~ 50 years prior! Note that the Caboose is to the right of the Gift Shop. Also note the fledgling leaves on the trees!

Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during early May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2295, #2212, and #7263. All three were built by EMD. #2295 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2212 is an EF-22 built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7263 is an EFS-17M built in 1959 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. These engines and one N-5C caboose are rockin' and rollin' around the Horseshoe Curve on their way to Gallitzin!

Shown here are PRR engines #8663 and #8668. Both are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. They have just rounded the Horseshoe Curve, and are returning to East Altoona for yet another run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and back.
