Title:  NKP 4-6-4 175 - "Nickel Plate Road"
Description:  This beautiful 4-6-4 Hudson type steam locomotive was built by Lima in November of 1929. To help the crews battle smoke, deflectors (nicknamed "elephant ears") were installed in January of 1946. Eventually the loco was sold to Louisiana Eastern on 12/4/1959. Specs - serial #7400, class L-1b, 73" drivers, 215 psi boiler pressure, 25x26" cylinders, approximate engine weight of 316,500 lb, tractive effort of 42,681 lb. C. T. Felstead photo

Title:  NKP 4-6-4 #172 - "Nickel Plate Road"
Description:  Beautiful 4-6-4 Hudson type steam locomotive built by Alco-Brooks in March of 1927. In August of 1946, the front smoke deflectors (nicknamed "elephant ears") were installed giving the loco a European styling. The loco lasted until finally being sold for scrap to Lederer Iron and Steel in September of 1956. Specs - serial #67213, class L-1a, 73" drivers, 215 psi boiler pressure, 25x26" cylinders, approximate engine weight of 316,500 lb, tractive effort of 42,681 lb. Title:  NKP 4-6-4 #176 - "Nickel Plate Road"
Description:  Built by Lima in November of 1929, this 4-6-4 Hudson type steam locomotive looked more massive that it actually weighed out as in realtiy. To combat smoke, the European looking smoke deflectors ("elephant ears") were installed in January of 1946. Sadly, the loco was sold to Luria Brothers for scrap on 8/28/1956. Specs - serial #7401, class L-1b, 73" drivers, 215 psi boiler pressure, 25x26" cylinders, approximate engine weight of 316,500 lb, tractive effort of 42,681 lb.
