Title:
PRR 9815, EF-15A, 1951
Description:
Harley. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Tom Harley that was taken at Union Furnace, Pennsylvania, in June of 1951. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9815 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EF-15A's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9815 was constructed in May of 1951 and retired in November of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-A set is on its way to Altoona and points West with a mixed-cargo freight train. Note the red tail-end marker light on Train #72 ~ the eastbound "Juniata" ~ that's just passed this location. ("PrrFan18n")
